My name is Ashley and I’m currently 30 years old. I live in Long Island, NY with my family and enjoy attending church at Abundant Life Family Worship Church in New Brunswick, NJ. I value the free time I can spend in NJ and use those moments to refuel on peace and joy by surrounding myself with extended family and friends.
December 31st, 2017: the day life as I’d always known it ended and my new life and healing journey began. This was the day I lost my precious mother, Stephanie. The woman that gave birth to me and shaped me into the woman I am today. I was 28 years old and I never could have imagined at 28 years old anything this tragic happening to me. I still needed her wisdom, guidance, and love. I still needed her.
Weeks after burying my mother, I began grief counseling to start my healing process. Throughout this process, I’ve learned how to live my life without her physically here with me, how to trust God during my pain and sorrow, and how to incorporate tools and strategies to heal and find peace. Almost a year after my mother’s passing, God revealed my purpose through my pain and Healing Daughters was born.
I will use this blog to share what I’ve experienced throughout the grief/healing journey and share tips with those who may be struggling to heal or searching to find peace after the loss of a loved one.
It is my prayer that my words will help you realize that grief does not have to leave you broken forever and you’re not alone. There’s more life inside of you to live. Don’t give up!
